Schedule of Training Hikes

  • Hudson Springs Park hikes on Saturday Feb 7th (4 miles) and Feb 14th (6 miles) around the lake
  • Boston Store north to Towpath and back down March 15th 11am – roughly 10 miles
  • Buckeye Trail on March 21 at 10am, meet at the parking lot across from the Brandywine Ski area (8 miles)
  • Virginia Kendall on April 4 at 10am, Cross Country and Salt Run Trails, meet at the parking area for Virginia Kendall (~7-8 miles)
  • Camp Butler, on April 11 (5 miles)
  • Octagon – Salt Run Trail – Cross Country Trail on April 26, meet at the Octagon off Truxell Rd at 9:45am (~9-10 miles)
  • Hinckley day trip – Test gear, and make sure any new are broken in. Target early May (8th or 9th)

There will be an initial “what to expect session” for those who come to the Feb 7th or 14th hikes.

Please bring/wear:

  • water bottle
  • snack
  • appropriate boots, gloves, hat, clothing etc.

As these are training hikes, as we move through the season, please plan to transition to your Philmont gear (boots, pack) and to increase weight in your pack. Water is a great way to add weight to a pack, and it can be dumped if you find that the weight is too much on a particular day.
